In 2024, we partnered with Systasy Bioscience, a Munich biotech startup that uses DNA barcoding to map disease pathways and find new drugs. Together, we designed the S2 Biolab to support high-level pharmaceutical R&D. Thanks to our close collaboration and the use of second-hand equipment, this became our most cost-effective project to date.
Discover
To kick off the project, we worked closely with Systasy to define their vision and lab requirements. We held joint workshops to outline every detail from safety compliance to workflow optimization. This deep dive allowed us to translate their scientific processes into a functional space layout. Our goal was to ensure the new lab perfectly fits their R&D needs from day one.
Design
We tailored the lab layout to optimize research workflows and integrated pre-owned equipment into the plan. Each decision balanced functionality, safety, and cost. This approach allowed us to build a high-quality R&D environment while keeping the budget under control.
Contract
We planned this lab using a "DIY Lab Planning" approach. We provided expert guidance while the Systasy team took an active role in the execution. This model gave them full ownership while benefiting from our experience and network. The result is a functional, budget-friendly S2 Biolab built through collaboration and smart decisions
Build
We sourced premium lab furniture in top condition and organized the professional installation on-site. By managing both the logistics and assembly, we made sure everything was set up quickly and safely. This turned the empty space into a ready-to-use facility without the high price tag.
